I Get You, Man

One of the hardest lives to live is being a man.
We wear many titles husbands, fathers, brothers, uncles, mentors, leaders.
We’re expected to carry weight,
fix problems,
provide answers,
and keep moving no matter what.
When we fall short or feel overwhelmed, it doesn’t just affect our bodies it takes a toll on our minds and spirits. People expect us to move heaven and earth as if we are God, but the truth is we are only men mere mortals. And believe it or not, no matter how strong an image we portray, we have feelings.
Men hurt.
Men feel pressure.
Men cry.
We just don’t always do it in public.
Today I want to tell you something clearly: it is okay to cry.
You are not weak for feeling you are human. And you are not alone.
There are men all over the world silently carrying burdens they’ve never spoken aloud. The issue isn’t that help isn’t available it’s that pride convinces us to suffer alone. We hold things in instead of talking with our spouse, a trusted friend, or another brother who can help release the pressure.
But when you release what’s weighing you down through
talking,
crying,
praying,
or praising,
you begin breaking the enemy’s hold.
The chains wrapped around your mind start to fall off.
You are no longer bound by depression, anxiety, or fear.
You make room for the Holy Spirit to move freely within you.
The Holy Spirit is our intercessor our helper when we don’t know what to say or do.
When we surrender instead of suppress, He steps in and strengthens us.
Men, God has always had our backs just like He did for every man in the Bible who chose to lead while leaning on Him. The key is surrendering and allowing Him to guide us.
I used to say something when I felt defeated and knocked down: “Every king has his day.”
Kings fall sometimes in battle, sometimes through exhaustion but kings who belong to God don’t stay down.
They get back up.
Because the war is bigger than the battle.
So get back up, king.
Reflection:
What pressures have you been carrying silently that God never intended you to carry alone?
Who is one trusted person you can open up to instead of suffering in isolation?
In what ways has pride prevented you from asking for help or showing vulnerability?
What does surrendering control to God look like for you right now?
Prayer:
Father God,
Thank You for reminding me that strength doesn’t mean silence.
Help me release the burdens I’ve been carrying and surrender them to You.
Break every chain of fear, anxiety, and depression trying to weigh me down.
Teach me to lean on You and on the people You’ve placed in my life.
Strengthen me as I stand firm in my faith and help me rise again when I fall.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
