Is It You?

Wooden cross against cloudy sky with text from Ephesians 2:10. Top right: "MEN WHO FAST DAY 15". Mood is serene and reflective.

Are you still there?

Are you okay?

I always like to check in during a fast, to make sure you’re staying hydrated, full of manna (God’s Word), and focused on the prize: salvation and elevation in this life.

That phrase matters, "this life."

So what are you doing with it?

Are you waking up saying, “It’s just another day,” or are you declaring, “I’m going to be great today”?

One thing I’ve learned: when you start your day and end your day with positive, God-centered affirmations, your day shifts. Your mindset shapes your movement.

We often get caught up watching other people’s lives and assuming theirs is better than ours. But how do you really know?

You don’t know who that person is behind closed doors. You don’t know what they’re battling once the live stream ends and the camera shuts off.

Many people live behind facades and unknowingly pull others into belief systems that aren’t rooted in truth. Then when your life doesn’t look like theirs, you start to feel like a failure.

Depression creeps in.

Comparison steals your joy.

Meanwhile, the very person you wish you could be like may be miserable, depressed, addicted, overwhelmed by debt, or spiritually empty.

God didn’t make a mistake with you. You have to take each day and be grateful for who God made you to be and the purpose He placed over your life.

“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

It may not have been God’s plan for you to be a star athlete, but maybe a teacher.

Not a doctor, but a life coach.

Not famous, but faithful.

God designed you with intention. And until you embrace your purpose, you’ll never fully know who you truly are.

Walk through this life content with you not someone else’s assignment, not someone else’s calling, not someone else’s highlight reel. Don’t wish for a life that was never designed for your greatness.

As one of my favorite authors and greatness gurus Lashawn Davis says: “Remember, the process of self-discovery is not about creating a persona or trying to be someone else. It’s about discovering who you are and learning to love yourself just as you are.”

Reflection:

Where have I been comparing my life to someone else’s calling?

Am I fully embracing who God created me to be?

What affirmation do I need to start and end my day with during this fast?

Prayer:

God, thank You for creating me with purpose and intention.

Help me to see myself the way You see me not through comparison, fear, or insecurity. Teach me to walk confidently in the path You prepared for my life.

I choose gratitude, obedience, and self-acceptance today.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
