The Joy of Rediscovery

The Joy of Rediscovery
The Joy of Rediscovery

Have you ever misplaced something valuable—your keys, your wallet, maybe even your phone—and then finally found it after retracing your steps?

Think about that sense of relief and joy that you feel once you find what you're looking for? That’s exactly how God feels when one of His children, who may have drifted, finds their way back to Him.

In Matthew 18:12–14, Jesus paints a picture of a shepherd who leaves 99 sheep to go after the one that’s lost.

And when he finds it?

He rejoices more over the one than the 99 that stayed.

That’s not just a story—it’s how God sees you. You’re not just part of the crowd—you’re seen, known, loved, and pursued.

Wandering Happens—But So Does Grace

Sometimes, we don’t even realize how far we’ve strayed.

It can happen in college, in the middle of a demanding job, or while simply trying to keep up with life. Even with the best intentions, we can drift.

But here’s the truth: God placed a spiritual tracking system inside of you. And when you cry out—even faintly—He hears it.

Just like that shepherd, He drops everything to find you, guide you, and carry you back home.

There’s No Condemnation in Coming Home

God doesn’t shame you when you return—He celebrates.

He rejoices.

He restores.

He reminds you that you were never meant to do life without Him.

Even if you were raised in a God-fearing household and still wandered…

Even if you’re just now learning how to walk this spiritual path…

God’s response is the same: “Welcome home.”

Scriptures for Today

“If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?... It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”Matthew 18:12–14 (CEV)🔗 Read Here

“There is more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”Luke 15:3–7 (CEV)🔗 Read Here

Reflection Prompt:

Where have you drifted from God’s direction—and what step can you take today to return to Him?

There’s no shame in being found.

There’s only joy!
