Recognize No Two Seasons Are the Same

When we think of seasons, we usually picture spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each one brings change. Each one is different. But beyond weather patterns, seasons in life also represent periods of transformation—some joyful, others difficult, but none meant to be identical.
In Daniel Chapter 4, we find King Nebuchadnezzar in his own season of transformation. For so long, he believed his power and kingdom were the result of his hands and the false gods he worshipped. Yet none of those gods could give him clarity or answers. He had to depend on Daniel—the man God positioned in his life—to help him understand the dreams that were troubling him.
The Stump and the Roots
In the vision Daniel interpreted, a great tree was cut down, but its stump and roots were left intact. That detail is powerful. When God disciplines or corrects us, He may allow what we built in our own strength to be cut down—but He preserves the foundation He created in us.
Those roots? That stump? That’s what God planted.
Nebuchadnezzar lost everything for a season—his position, his pride, even his humanity. He walked the earth like an animal for seven years. But:
When he finally acknowledged God, the Lord restored him. And not just back to where he was before—his kingdom became greater than it had ever been.
Your Season May Look Like a Loss, But It's Not the End
Some seasons will feel like setbacks.
Like losses.
Like punishment.
But they’re really periods of pruning, correction, or preparation.
God may be cutting away the “branches” of pride, disobedience, or worldliness—but your roots remain. And when you yield to His process, what grows back will be stronger, wiser, and greater than what was lost.
Don’t confuse one hard season with the whole story. Each season serves a purpose.
Spring doesn’t look like winter. Healing doesn’t look like pruning. Victory doesn’t look like testing.
But God is in them all.
So, recognize that no two seasons are the same—and each one is shaping you.
