We want a lot from God, but often give very little in return. As humans, we can go all-in for the things we want new outfits, trips, success, companionship. We sacrifice time, money, and energy without hesitation. But when it comes to God, we sometimes expect instant results, like a microwave faith, without building any real relationship.

Consider a boxer. Before ever stepping into the ring, they discipline their body for months sometimes years to endure twelve rounds of warfare.

Their diet changes.

Their schedule tightens.

Even the people they allow around them shift.

That level of restraint takes discipline. Why?

Because they want the prize at the end.

They want the crown.

They want to be called champion.

Scripture reminds us in 1 Corinthians 9:25–26 (CEV):

“Athletes work hard to win a crown that cannot last, but we do it for a crown that will last forever. I don’t run without a goal. And I don’t box by beating my fists in the air.”

In this season of elevation, what are you doing to earn the crown God wants to place on your head?

Are you fasting?

Are you praying?

Are you reading and drawing closer to Him?

Fasting requires sacrifice denying foods you enjoy, routines you’re used to, comforts you want so that your body becomes an offering unto God.

Prayer isn’t rushed or timed; it’s time spent talking to your Father, lingering in His presence.

Reading the Word isn’t “one and done.” It’s reading to absorb, writing to retain, and allowing Scripture to be inscribed on your heart. This is what discipline looks like.

The real question is this:

Are you truly ready to elevate, or are you content with what life gives you because discipline is hard? The higher you go, the more discipline your next season will demand. And the prize God awards won’t stop with you it will flow through generations.

Your discipline today becomes someone else’s freedom tomorrow. Cycles are broken through disciplined obedience.

Reflection

  •  How will you discipline your mind, body, and soul in this season?

  •  What can you change now if you see yourself slipping off track?

Prayer

Father God,

Teach me to be disciplined in all things.

Strengthen my mind, align my body, and anchor my soul in You.

Help me not to chase comfort, but commitment.

Give me the endurance to train for what You’ve promised and the wisdom to sacrifice what delays my growth.

I want to run with purpose, fight with intention, and live in a way that honors You.

Prepare me for the crown that lasts forever.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
