Trust and Release

Trusting in God means letting go of control. And we know, there’s something hard about letting go. As men, we’re conditioned to fix things, to strategize, to stay two steps ahead. But sometimes, we carry things that were never ours to fix in the first place.
God didn’t call us to shoulder every burden, He called us to trust Him.
The Bible shares this plainly in Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV):
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Notice what it doesn’t say. It doesn’t say “trust Him when it makes sense,” or “trust Him once you’ve tried everything else.” It says with all your heart- and that means releasing your grip on the outcome and trusting that He’s already worked it out.
Being in control feels powerful until it starts to weigh you down.
You overthink.
You stress.
You try to plan your way out of pain, uncertainty, or delay.
But all of that planning without God becomes just busy work that looks productive but moves nothing. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up. It means surrendering. There’s a difference.
Reflection:
Ask yourself- what are you still trying to control?
Your job situation?
That strained relationship?
The timing of the breakthrough you’ve been praying for?
Think about:
What’s one area of your life where you’ve struggled to trust God completely?
What would change if you fully released that thing into God’s hands?
Have you made trusting God a habit, or a last resort?
Fasting is one of God’s tools to help us release, to lay it down and say, “God, I trust You more than I trust my own plan.”
A Simple Prayer:
Father, Today I release what I’ve been holding too tightly.
I surrender my worries, my plans, and my desire to control it all.
Help me to trust You, fully.
Show me how to walk in faith, not fear.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
